What We Collect
- Your chosen display name (stored locally on your device via localStorage)
- Messages you send, associated with your display name and group ID
- Group names and access codes you create
- Timestamps of messages for ordering conversations
Firebase & Data Storage
NexChat uses Google Firebase Firestore to store messages and group data in real-time. Firebase is a trusted platform used by millions of apps worldwide.
- Data is stored in Google's cloud infrastructure
- Firebase's own privacy policy also applies
- Messages may persist until manually deleted
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not show you advertisements
- We do not track you across other websites
- We do not use cookies for tracking purposes
Your Rights & Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your messages or group data at any time. Since NexChat uses a simple username system, you have full control over the name you use — switch it anytime by signing in again with a different name.
Security
Groups are protected by access codes — only users with the correct code can view a group's messages. However, please note that NexChat is a lightweight app and is not end-to-end encrypted. Avoid sharing sensitive personal information in chats.
